You’ll all have to indulge me a bit tonight, as I think the 14 miler today fried my brain. Bill is just sitting in our living room listening to what I have playing on YouTube, shaking his head. π
Does anyone else get a bit freaked out by this video? Or by the idea that they came back? Does anyone else remember doing the New Kids dance when driving? Oh, that was just my friend Renee?! (Or is everyone else too sheepish to admit it?!)
New Kids on the Block, Summertime
In case you can’t remember the New Kids dance, then here you go, here’s a refresher below, or you can also click on this link, for a different song by them:
New Kids on the Block, Hang Tough
(By the way, I can see you dancing through your computer screen!)
Ok, to resurrect myself and this blog from being completely laughable, I did want to mention a book I am reading to help me develop some of the mental endurance that Lis doesn’t seem to have any problems with, at all: Running Within: A Guide to Mastering the Body-Mind-Spirit Connection for Ultimate Training and Racing. So far, it seems pretty good, I’ll write more of a review when I finish it. I saw that someone had listed it in one of their Take it and Run Thursday posts for the Runner’s Lounge.

Ah, I remember the dance although NKOTB was a little young for me . . .my sister did have a marriage certificate with her name and Jordan’s name on it hanging in our bedroom π

I like you Terri so here is some advice: never ever bring up the New Kids dance again. I might have to remove your blog from my Google Reader! Ok, just playing…but seriously, don’t mention it again.

ha ha ha, Chris. Did you notice, I will not be putting them on my music page. π
Seriously, that run yesterday must have taken more out of me than I really thought. Ah well. Don’t worry it won’t happen again!
And Jenn, I didn’t have the marriage certificate, but that is too funny! I think I may have known some girls who did…

I honestly believed for quite some time that I would one day meet Joey and we would marry. Seriously. I had this enormous New Kids jigsaw puzzle. Why a jig saw puzzle? I have NO CLUE, but I did the entire thing and then put this stuff over it to make it stay together and hung it in my room. I cannot believe I just admitted that.
The funniest thing about the video is that those models probably aren’t even old enough to know who they are. But I do like the song. It’s catchy. And summery. And they do look great – maybe even better than they did before. I still have a thing for little Joey…

I can remember doing a dance in dance class to that song when I was probably 6 or 7 years old. Our costume included cool red hats with sunglasses on them. Oh yeah we were cool.
I may have to get that book. Thanks for the recommendation. Seems like more and more I feel like I need a running partner to keep my mind occupied!

Tamara, you admitting that makes me feel better about having this video up on my blog – THANK YOU!! See, I knew the lady bloggers would get it and it’d make all of us remember a time in our lives when things were so much easier, yet we probably didn’t feel that way!
Alissa, you would hate to know what fashions I was wearing when the NKOTB were cool. Flourescents, anyone? π
Oh, and I definitely love the Running Within book. It’s the first book I’ve taken a highlighter to, in a while.

I am slightly terrified that NKOTB is back on the scene. Especially since it reminds me of a friend from the middle school years who had literally covered her bedroom walls and ceiling in posters of the group. It was a scary room to enter, worse when she had sleepovers.
You mentioned Fluorescent clothing. Did you have any of those weird shirts that changed color with temperatures too? Those were big at that time, if I recall correctly. Hypercolor or something like that?
